Snapchat’s instant messaging service, known for its “3-second rule”, is rolling out a new feature called “123 seconds”.
According to the company, it’s a way for people who don’t have a time slot to chat with one another.
Now, it will be available for people working in “high-demand industries”, as well as for people that have “a high level of productivity”.
“You can’t talk to a colleague in the middle of a conference call,” Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel told Business Insider.
“But you can do it in a couple of seconds.”
To set it up, you’ll need to create an account and create an alias, which can be set up in two clicks, and then click on the “123 Seconds” button in the app.
When you press the button, the app will show you a screen with three options: “Get started now”, “Create alias”, and “Create profile”.
The first option gives you access to the app for 30 minutes, after which you can set the alias to whatever you want.
“Get Started” is the default setting, and gives you an option to set the account to the location you’d like it to be, and if you’d rather not be notified when it’s set, you can still set the timezone of your choice.
If you’d prefer to set a timezone to GMT, you just have to click the option to that timezone and select “Set as default”.
The second option gives the option of setting the location to your home country.
If your country is not yet supported, you may have to do some searching in the Settings app.
The third option is the most important one.
It’s the option where you can define the “nickname”, which will be displayed in the chat app.
You can either use your own nickname, or one you’ve created.
You will be able to choose a nickname, but you can also change it later on.
You’ll be able also set a password, which is displayed on the profile page.
You have a maximum of three characters in your nickname, and the limit will be set based on your level of work, Spiegel said.
You should also be able create an email address and add a password for it, but Spiegel said this feature will not be available when the app launches for everyone.
If someone asks you to create a new email address, you should enter that information into the app, he added.
There are also a number of settings that can be changed through the app’s Settings page, Spiegel added.
You might also want to turn on auto-reply, which will automatically reply to messages on your behalf, and auto-tag a message with your own nick, he said.
“When people are on their phones, they don’t want to take the time to chat,” Spiegel said, adding that there are a number ways people might use this feature.
“I’ve heard that people are using it to help them relax during meetings, or just chat when they’re not working,” Spiegel added, adding “that’s great, but it’s not something that you should use in an office setting.”
This is a good feature for people with less than five hours a day of work a week, he noted.
“The more people that use this, the more productivity increases.”
To see how long you’ll be allowed to chat, click on “set timezone” on the app and it will show how long your time is, Spiegel told us.
After you set it, you need to enter the time zone you’d want it set for, and a password.
You don’t need to be connected to the internet to chat.
“If someone calls and asks you for your password, you’re not allowed to reply,” Spiegel explained.
“So this is for people in high-demand jobs.”
Snapchat is not the only one to roll out this feature, and it’s likely that other companies will soon follow.
Spiegel said that this feature could be useful for people like himself, who need to stay connected with colleagues throughout the day, and for people of all levels, Spiegel noted.
The app is available now for iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and Xbox One.
Snapchat started rolling out this new feature last month, and Spiegel said the feature was a lot of fun.
“It was super exciting to see how this new product would change people’s lives,” Spiegel told BI.
“People who don the app are now getting to enjoy that extra little extra time they need to spend together.”
