Tim Pampers was in the first-class section of the Oval and was just finishing up when a fan asked about the Australian team’s tour of New Zealand.
“I was thinking it would be fun to get some cricket in there, but when I saw that we were going to get the ball on the second day of the tour, I thought it would only be good for one or two innings, so I wasn’t too excited,” he said.
A few days later, the team arrived in Auckland and began the journey to the Oval.
They made it to the ground before the weather worsened.
Tim and his wife had booked their tickets ahead of time, but they had a few extras they wanted to bring.
He bought a t-shirt with the team’s logo on it.
When they got to the pitch, they were told there was no ground at the ground, so they needed to take the bus.
Instead, they had to wait at the airport.
On their way home, they stopped at a petrol station.
The couple were in shock, because they had just spent $100 on tickets for a couple of days.
Luckily, the bus was still there and Tim managed to grab a free ride.
Now that they have settled in, Tim has been using the experience to plan his next tour.
We will take the time to plan out how to go about our tour in New Zealand, and when and where we will do it.
The most important thing is to get back to the States, he said on Friday.
While the tour is going well, he still feels nervous.
I think it’s a little bit over-rated, because it was the first time in my life I felt that it was something that you just went for and got out there and you had to do your best.
It was a good experience, but I think I’m more relaxed and I feel a little more comfortable with the way I’m playing.
